Week 9 Thing # 22
I think Librivox is great! I found and listened to Ayn Rand's, "Anthem", Grimm's Fairy Tales, and a short story by Dorothy Sayers. The site is friendly and the download was seamless. Because the readers are amateurs, the audio presentation is not excellent, but adequate. Free is great and you don't have to join to listen.
The British Library Online Gallery is incredible. What a magnificent site. I emailed the site to my entire staff. Thank you

Week 9 Thing #21
Podcasting
I enjoy listening to podcasts at home. Lectures, tutorials.
I found an interesting podcast from a middle school like mine called "Guys Read" and I added it to my google reader. I found it through the educational podcast directory.
Several of the podcast links not longer work, including yahoo. But in the quickly changing world of web 2.0, it was not a surprise.

Week 9 Thing #20
I use youtube often for educational purposes. When a staff member asks for suggestions for curricular clips, I use youtube. Besides, Chad sold me my cutco knives when he working to make money for college. It's nice to say I knew him when....

Youtube recommendation:
Google Sites
I was not aware of google sites! I was happy to have the o.pportunity to watch the youtube clip. I will definitely explore this option for web sharing.
Week 8 Thing #18 Online Productivity - Zoho Writer
I joined zoho writer and discovered that the application was minimal when using a Mac. I was able to upload a document form my home computer and play with the various settings - change to pdf, html etc but I kept receiving annoying error messages that made the experience irritating. Zoho warns you that it is less effective with Safari.
I also explored the spreadsheet and calendar applications. Very impressive. I set up 30 boxes immediately and plan to use it as a family calender.
Google Docs suits my needs. When I am producing a collaborative document with other members of a curriculum team, the online productivity is far better than using an offline productivity tool.
